The importance of Twitch in Esports

For Esports, Twitch has found itself at the forefront of tournament coverage. After all, it is where people search for games/Esports, and that handy browse section allows you to see what games currently have the most viewers. As a user myself, I am drawn to the sections with more in, out of intrigue of what/who is doing what.

The franchise that got me into Esports many years ago was Call of Duty, and due to a number of poor releases, has seen its Esport diminish into obscurity. However, with the successful launch of Black Ops 4, I was met with a surprise.

Seth 'Scump' Abner was livestreaming the first competitive online tournament of the season, and to my surprise, was the most viewed streamer on the platform, exceeding 100,000 viewers!

Read more about the stream here.

Here hoping that the masses continue to watch!
